Air/spring brake chambers/actuator

The spring brake chamber is a part of the automotive braking system. It is usually installed on the drive axle of a car, and its function is to provide braking torque for the car.

The brake chamber is a device composed of an intake port, a cover, a diaphragm, a support plate, a return spring, a housing, a push rod, a connecting fork, clamps, and bolts, also known as a cylinder.

The combined spring brake chamber is used to provide braking driving force for the wheel brakes, and it consists of two parts: a diaphragm chamber for service braking; Spring chamber, used for auxiliary braking and parking braking. The characteristic of the spring chamber is that it has an overtravel function and is equipped with a mechanical brake release device

When the car is braking, air enters the brake chamber through the intake port, and under the action of air pressure, the diaphragm deforms, pushing the push rod and driving the brake adjustment arm, rotating the brake cam, and pressing the brake shoe friction plate against the brake drum to generate braking.

The braking force of the diaphragm chamber push rod is proportional to the input air pressure; The parking brake compartment is a braking device that uses spring energy storage and air release. The inflation pressure enters the pressure chamber through 12 ports, generating a force acting on the piston. When the pressure is greater than 0.65 MPa, the force acting on the piston is greater than the preload force of the spring, and the piston rises to its limit, releasing the brake; If the air in the pressure chamber is completely released, the spring will push the piston downwards, pushing the main brake push rod to generate braking, and the braking strength is related to the spring preload force; When the pressure in the pressure chamber is lower than 0.65 MPa, the braking force generated by the chamber is inversely proportional to the pressure value, so emergency braking can be implemented.
